Our summer Coffee with a Curator talk celebrates this glorious season by discovering the variety and beauty of William Morris’s own garden at Kelmscott House in Hammersmith. Beginning with descriptions from William Morris’s correspondence, we’ll look at the the plants and flowers at Kelmscott House and relate these to the flora found within his designs for wallpapers and textiles. Please join us in this recorded lecture as we look at the splendour of Morris’s garden through historical references, photographs, contemporary descriptions and Morris’s own words, alongside key objects from the Society’s collection that reflect the plants that Morris grew at his Hammersmith home.
